World War 3

The year 2020 will go down in history as one of the most challenging and painful years ever. We lost many great people to death from helicopter crashes to cancer to COVID. As it comes to a close, we continue to watch our country’s political and ideological divides grow bigger. Many of us are still wondering if we will ever see a day when we no longer have to work in front of zoom screens, stay away from crowds, and finally stop sheltering in place.

For me, this year was about taking leaps in service of my growth and healing. One of those leaps was fully owning my identity as a writer, poet, storyteller, and performer. I am no longer hiding my gifts and passions from the world. Thus, I am happy to finally share my first ever first video performing spoken word poetry. Inspired by the pandemic, hip hop, pop culture, and latin music I wrote this political piece titled World War 3:

The performance above was recently featured as part of Modern Latina Magazine’s Quinceañera Celebration along with many other amazing poems, stories, and interviews from Latina writers, entrepreneurs, advocates, and Chingonas using their gifts to help inspire and support communities.

This piece captures my many frustrations with the current state of the world and my hopes for the future. I hope it can serve as a rallying cry for the revolution. As you listen, if you feel so compelled, I invite you to pick up a pen and let’s write a new story into existence for our future. A story that is inspired, just. equitable, and inclusive. May these words inspire us all to unite using the collective power of our words and stories to fighting for community unity and healing in 2021 and beyond.

Happy listening! And while you are here, please take a look at my new shop and consider buying one of my poetry inspired products!
